Starting isn’t easy, but neither is staying stuck.

Hi Reader,

If you’ve been on my list for a while you’ve probably heard me say this a million times but here it is once more because it’s important. ➡️ Starting a business isn’t just about having a great idea. It’s about overcoming the first big hurdle—the early struggle. The stage where your dream feels bigger than your resources, where every decision feels heavy, and the “what ifs” crowd your mind.

This is where most aspiring entrepreneurs get stuck. They’ve got a vision but no clear path to get there. They want to make the leap but fear the landing. The early struggle is REAL.

But here’s the truth: You can’t skip it. It’s part of the journey. And the good news? There are steps you can take to break free from it.

1️⃣ Embrace the Uncertainty

The struggle happens because you don’t have all the answers yet. And that’s okay. Every successful entrepreneur has been through this. The key is to embrace the uncertainty and start anyway. The first step isn’t about having everything figured out—it’s about moving forward despite not having all the answers.

2️⃣ Make the Smallest Move

Here’s the trap that most people fall into: they try to go from 0 to 100 right away. The truth is, starting small is the key to making progress. Focus on the smallest actionable step you can take to get closer to your goal—whether it’s writing out your business idea, doing market research, or talking to your first potential customer.

3️⃣ Expect Mistakes (And Learn Fast)

Perfectionism is your enemy. When you’re in the early stages, the fear of making mistakes can be paralyzing. But it’s not about avoiding mistakes—it’s about learning from them quickly. The faster you fail, the faster you grow.

4️⃣ Build Momentum, Not Just a Business

Momentum is what will carry you through the early struggle. When you focus on consistent, small actions instead of the end goal, you’ll start to see real progress. Each small win builds confidence and propels you forward.

Starting is hard. But it doesn’t have to be complicated. If you can take these first steps and stop waiting for the “perfect time,” you’ll set yourself up to win.

Here’s how to get out of your own way. 🙈👇🏽

Hey Reader, You've probably seen the headlines this week: "Is AI spending out of control?" "Are we in an AI bubble?" Tech giants are pouring billions into AI. Investors are betting big. And every founder is wondering: Is this real, or are we headed for a crash? Here's the truth: every technological revolution has its irrational exuberance phase. But beneath the froth, something real is happening; a fundamental redistribution of power. I ran an AI startup from 2017-2019. We failed. Not because...

Hey Reader, This week, the AI world shifted under our feet, and most founders didn't even notice. Claude launched their dev site (meaning you can now build, code, and launch without juggling multiple tools), and OpenAI released their own browser (so AI can now research the web for you in real-time). If that sounds like tech jargon, here's what it actually means: the barriers between "thinking about your business" and "building your business" just collapsed. But here's the catch: these tools...

Hi Reader, If you’ve been putting off “figuring out AI,” I get it. Most founders are struggling with the same things: Too many tools, not enough time. Confusing compliance risks. The feeling you’re already behind. But here’s the thing: AI isn’t just about building products, it’s about creating space in your business and your brain. That’s why on October 9th, I’m hosting AI Implementation Decoded at SF Tech Week. In 90 minutes, you’ll: Build your own 30-day AI roadmap. Learn how to avoid...
